The importance of self-care

What is self-care?

To put it simply, self-care is an activity that you participate in that helps you feel better. Self-care is about having balance in life. You can break up self-care into different domains to help achieve more balance in all areas. Many people believe self-care is doing something outside the house such as a massage, getting your hair done, meeting with friends, etc. While these could be a form of self-care for some, others would find it draining. Self-care can be anything that helps you decompress and replenish yourself. Some examples could be taking a long bath, laying on your couch, watching tv, meditating, enjoying your favorite cup of tea, lighting your favorite candle, listening to soothing sounds, etc. Anything that helps you feel more grounded and centered. I encourage you to take a look at the self-care wheel and challenge yourself to try some different approaches. Let the journey begin!
